HP Pavilion G4t Review | HP G4t Targets Vacancy in 14-inch Market

HP Pavilion G4t ReviewIf you’re looking for an affordable, yet powerfully equipped, machine that you can take anywhere you need to go then look no further than the HP G4t – a beautifully designed 14-inch machine that is a new addition to HP’s G-series, which until now had been content with larger laptops like the G6t, G6x, and G7t. And, much like its larger siblings, the HP G4t is a bargain, featuring a starting price of just $499.

Apart from the smaller form factor, the HP G4t comes with many of the same options as its larger counterparts, including the array of processor options, which range from the Intel Pentium dual-core chip to the Intel Core i5-540M with Turbo Boost. Choose the former for light everyday use; choose the latter for intense multi-tasking, gaming, or entertainment use. Memory equipment choices start with 2GB(DDR3) and top out at 6GB(DDR3), but if you’d like, you can go to as much as 8GB if you put in your own chip.

High-Def Viewing

The 14-inch display is HP’s famous high-definition BrightView LED monitor, which has a native resolution of 1366×768 and which offers seamless high-definition video playback, great color rendering and detailed images. For graphics processing, choose the integrated Intel HD graphics card or – for more power – opt for the ATI Radeon graphics card, which is available in 512MB and 1GB formats.

Easy traveling is the name of the game with this machine; that’s because the new HP G4t is lighter and smaller than most other 14-inch machines. Also, it features a six-cell Lithium Ion battery – rather than the usual four-cell – which gives users an extra hour or two of battery life. Adding to its travel-friendly feature list are the integrated WiFi, Bluetooth and Ethernet ports.

But just because it’s small doesn’t mean that there is any shortage of ports and extras. Not only are there three USB ports, but there are also HDMI/VGA ports, a multimedia card reader, and much more.

HP G4t | Ultimate Control

Controls are one of the most underrated pieces of any mobile computer, especially on a machine of this size. Luckily, HP has given the control panel its full attention. The full-size island-style keyboard is perfect for any typing job, whether it’s an e-mail to friends or a 20-page term paper. Also nice is the flush-mounted touchpad; it’s very responsive and it blends right in with the palm-rest, giving an extra level of chic to the design.
