HP Pavilion DV7t Quad Ediiton ReviewThe 17-inch HP Pavilion DV7t Quad Edition deserves many superlatives. It’s simply one of the finest large format power laptops on the market today. Updated for 2011, the new HP Pavilion DV7t Quad Edition has kept the same brushed aluminum shell that customers have raved so much about, but for the real differences you have to peek under the hood, where you’ll find the second-generation of Intel’s iCore processors.

HP Pavilion DV7t Quad Edition | Performance Guaranteed

Even the base model of the HP Pavilion DV7t Quad Edition comes with Intel’s Core i7- 2630QM quad-core processor. The new chips – called “Sandy Bridge” – feature much improved performance over the first-generation iCore chips. They also feature better power efficiency and improved graphics.

If you want to get a bit more power, you can get up to the Intel Core i7-2820QM, which with Turbo Boost can give speeds of up to 3.4GHz.

Standard memory outfitting is 4GB DDR3 RAM, but that is scalable up to 8GB. Generally, the standard offering is enough if you’re planning on watching movies and basic multi-tasking. However, if you want to maximize your gaming capability, go for the full 8GB.

Built for Entertainment

The HP Pavilion DV7t Quad Edition was built for entertainment; there’s no doubt about it. Take one look at the processors, memory, graphics cards and display, and that much is obvious.

Powering the 17.3-inch high-definition “BrightView” display is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6570 graphics card, which features not only 1GB of graphics memory, but also HDMI and VGA ports for connecting to external displays. With this card you can be sure that your video playback will be seamless and that your gaming is free of lag.

An often ignored aspect of laptop construction is the audio card. The traditional thinking is that since users will likely be wearing headphones then there’s no need for good integrated speakers. That’s not the case with the HP Pavilion Elite DV7t Quad Edition. All configurations of this machine feature the Beats audio card, speakers and HP’s Triple Bass Reflex Subwoofer.

Since a big piece of entertainment enjoyment requires that you have media to enjoy in the first place, HP has given users many hard drive choices. The base model comes equipped with a 650GB disc-style drive. Other options include both 5,400 and 7,200RPM drives in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB formats. There’s even an option for a 160GB solid-state drive.

Beauty AND Appeal

There are many other features in the HP Pavilion DV7t that make it an appealing machine.

To stay connected to the rest of the world there integrated wireless and Ethernet cards. You can also opt for Bluetooth if you have wireless peripheral devices.

To make sure that you can connect your favorite devices, there are four USB ports, one eSATA port, a 5-in-1 media card reader, and an HDMI port.
